Minhaj ul Haque is presently the Chief Executive Officer, Population Center, Pakistan. Spending over 20 years in Population Council and the next 10 years as an independent consultant with the World Bank and UNDP, Minhaj ul Haque has played advisory role in bringing actionable evidence to policy makers. His work spans into the areas of social protection, population, health and education sectors. As Secretary General of PAP (2017-2020), he wrote the policy note, under the guidance of President PAP (2017-2020) on how increasing population is a larger internal security threat to Pakistan and this work was instantaneously adopted by the Government of Pakistan. He was principal investigator for the first national youth survey of Pakistan and many other research studies on health, demography and education that evidently resulted in improving youth, population and education policy of Pakistan. He also prepared a presentation on education participation in Pakistan for the education minister, who presented it to the federal cabinet of Pakistan. His foundational work on SDG data gaps in Pakistan is also followed by planning commission. His interest lies in capacity building and utilization of emerging technologies to enhance evidence use for public policy and to resolve equity challenges in Pakistan. Occasionally, he teaches “Population Economics”, a course that he developed, at the School of Economics, Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad, from where he also graduated. He tries to prepare his student to solve the dilemmas of governance and economic planning in Pakistan.
